WHO WE ARE
CHAIN Uganda Ltd was Established in 2008 as a community based organization in Mpigi-Uganda, our primary focus was to serve farming communities in response to widespread household poverty, food security, poor health and social welfare all of which stemmed from lack of coordinated efforts in agriculture, nutrition and enterprise development interventions in Uganda.
Central to our work was building capacity of small holder farmers through supporting formation and coordination of self-help groups to effectively transition from subsistence levels to commercial farming for improved incomes and livelihood.
It’s all done through enabling access to inputs in terms of appropriate technologies such as improved seeds, agro research and farm management systems, micro finance and access to markets. Secondary emphasis is to promote community health and environmental protection through nutritional education, directing human behavior on land use and engaging in environmental protection activities regarding crop and animal husbandry..
WHAT CHAIN AIMS AT
Enhancing agricultural productivity by enabling communities to access and use appropriate technologies.
Promoting community based nutritional programs that enhance proper utilization of foods to improve household health status especially children and women.
Promoting micro and Agro enterprises that improve household incomes.
Enabling Producer communities participate in Value chains and linking them to profitable markets.
Conducting adaptive research to guide decision making based on sound scientific facts.
Building partnerships and network.
